- I am about third of the way into the book and the language and tone makes history and mythology very approachable and relatable. By nature Greek mythology is inter-mixed with ancient history and it’s very hard to draw a distinction between the two, but the book so far has not even tried to do that. Instead, it makes it a point to mix the two and tell a tale of gods, legends, heroes and men who are all fallible, and their actions are driven by their own raw emotions.
- There are ample footnotes on almost every page, and I like how connections are made between ancient history and today’s language, geography, and culture. The etymology of certain words with its roots in Greek mythology opens your eyes to the fact that so much of today’s modern world still carries strands of mythology.
